Synopsis: 
"England, 1816
Dr. Peter Fairbanks travels to Derbyshire in hopes of founding his own practice and setting up a life for himself. As a reader and lover of chiefly modern literature, I found the exposition of the book to be slow and not as engaging as the rest of the book.  I felt there were too many characters being introduced and it was hard to keep up with them all.  The story got far more interesting after the conflict was presented.  Despite the largeness of the Ravenwood family, the characters were genuine, heartwarming and so believable that one can't but sympathize with them.  The conflict was highly engaging, leaving my eyes glued to the pages and unable to put it down as I anticipated new plot points. There are so many surprising twists involved that one never sees coming, leaving the reader wanting more. I recommend this to anyone who likes a thrilling, heartfelt, gut-wrenching page turner.

If you are looking for a good story with suspense, mystery, and intrigue then this is the book for you ! The characters are well developed and the events stay true to the time period in which the story takes place. There is more than one issue trying to be solved through out the book which adds demension to the story. You will be asking yourself questions about the characters and their actions and motives all through the story ! This book has a gothic feel to it which in my opinion can be enjoyed by women and men of many ages.

I really enjoyed reading Resistance by R.A. Mizer. I normally don't read these types of books but the synopsis had me intrigued. The author held my attention from beginning until the end. The character development was very excellent. I felt like I was in the book the whole time I was reading. I would highly recommend this novel.
