Captive by Brenda Rothert
Book 2 in Fire on Ice series
Two years ago, Jason and Kate Ryker were brought together by grief and bound to one another by love. Now married, they’re confronting their fears together.
But heartbreak finds them again, and the ties that bind Kate and Ryke are tested as she struggles against fear and sadness. As a grief counselor, Kate understands all too well the pain of her clients. And while her husband’s career as an NHL forward is at an all-time high, he’s coping with the frustration of feeling powerless as his wife's hopes slip away.
Kate’s unexpected journey sheds light on the fear that imprisons her, and reveals that she is the only one who can set herself free
REVIEW:
When I read the first book my heart broke for both Kate and Ryke. Ryke is one of those guys that is just so wonderful you wish you could clone him! In this book we see the same strength from him, even when his world has been shaken.
Kate is pregnant but she loses the baby. This sends her into a depression and she decides she never wants to try to carry a child again. Ryke bless his heart is there for her and supports her decision. They abstain from sex....yes the man loves his wife enough to not pressure her. Like I said we need to clone this man!!
The bulk of this book deals with how Kate is coping and what Ryke does to help her. I would have liked to see more of Ryke's pain because you know he lost the baby too. All in all it was a good read and a nice conclusion to their story.
