About the Author:
Maria DeSouza is a New Jersey native with a love for writing. She has two children, who are her life, and family that makes her want to scream at times, but still loves them. She started her affair with reading and writing at a very young age. She loves where books take her, and always wished for the day when she would meet her very own dream boat. She grew up on Stephen King, Nora Roberts, and anything her library would let her borrow. She would always grab a notebook and start writing about the books she read about because she wanted the story to continue. She never took it seriously until a friend a few years ago told her that she needed to publish her work after she wrote down a short story. The words stuck with her and she was constantly asked, "Did you write more? Are you done?" A back injury put her writing on hold for almost 2 yrs and last year, she found the short story and started reading. Then, she started writing and adding to it. That little dream turned story turned into her debut novel, Love Lost.

And the first book in the series is on sale now for $.99

REVIEW:  This is one of those books that you can sort of see what's coming.  That's not a bad thing all the time but when you read the same plot three times in a week it can get a little old.  That is not this author's problem, it's mine. I need to start varying the reviews I sign up for.  Hannah broke up with Jackson, unfortunately for her Jackson is part of her group of friends so they are going to get thrown together again.  Greyson and Hannah noticed each other at a party at Jackson's house a few months ago but Hannah was taken at the time. Then Hannah goes out with the girls and gets so drunk she wakes up in Greyson's bed, not remembering how she got there.  She does the walk of shame but leaves without her purse. This is one of those times you can see what's going to happen before it does. Her wallet is in her purse, Greyson comes over to return it.

It doesn't take long for Greyson and Hannah to get together and fall in love. Greyson has a father that disappeared all the time and can't stay with one woman. He's afraid he's just like him and tries to push Hannah away. Hannah sticks with him to help him heal. Can you tell what happens next??  I'm not going to spoil it for those of you who haven't read this plot before.

So here's what I did enjoy about the book: The secondary characters stole this book. Hannah's friends are a loyal group and I would love to read more about them, perhaps in the next book.

Hannah rubs me the wrong way in the beginning, she's dealing with her life by getting drunk too often for me. Greyson while he seems like a great guy wasn't a strong enough male for me. This is a decent read and a good job as a freshman novel. I am hoping to see some growth in her next work.

About the Author: I’m twenty four years old. I was born and raised in Ladner, a small farm town just outside of Vancouver, Canada. I grew up riding horses, shooting guns with my daddy and driving my ’99 red chevy truck, Clifford. I’ve been together with my handsome redneck, Jacob, for five years and this August we will be celebrating our one year wedding anniversary. I am completely and utterly obsessed with country music. I love to snowboard, go on walks with Bear (Not a real bear silly! Our chocolate lab) and I love to plan events; I don’t know if that’s considered a real hobby, but it is for me!

We were fortunate enough to travel a lot as a family, and I think that helped spark my love of reading. I’m half Viking, my mom is Danish, and her entire side of the family still lives in Denmark. We’d visit them almost once a year, every year and it’s a nine hour flight. That’s a lot of uninterrupted time to read (or in my parent’s case, entertain four children – Yikes!). My love of reading quickly turned into a passion for writing. I loved to write short stories and although I majored in Business Management, I took as many English electives I could get my hands on in college.

I’m a reader, turned blogger, turned author. I started a blog this June ’14 because I love to talk about the amazing books I’ve read, and after a few suggestions that I try writing a book, I decided to give it a go. I loved it instantly! Having always been a creative person, it felt amazing to harness all that energy and use it to tell a story that I love. I enjoy incorporating bits of my real life into the stories I write – What parts are true? Hah. I’ll never tell, what would be the fun in that?

I am beyond excited to be embarking on this new journey as an author and I hope y’all can join me on the ride! Find Anne: Twitter ~ Facebook ~ Website

Gypsy Brothers Series by Lili St. Germain ~ Reviews and Giveaway

Gypsy Brothers Series

Seven Sons (Gypsy Brothers, #1)

Six Brothers (Gypsy Brothers, #2)

Five Miles (Gypsy Brothers, #3)

Four Score, Gypsy Brothers, #4)

Three Years (Gypsy Brothers, #5)

The story began with Seven Sons....

My father was most certainly NOT an innocent man. As the leader of the Gypsy Brothers MC, he was guilty of many things. But he died for a crime that he didn’t commit, framed by an enemy within who then stole his club and everything he had ever worked to protect.

Including my innocence.

When Dornan Ross framed my father, he set into motion a series of events that could never be undone. My father was murdered by Dornan Ross and his sons when I was fifteen years old.

Before my father died, Dornan and his sons stole my innocence, branded my skin and in doing so, ensured that their lives would be prematurely cut short. That they would suffer.

I’ve just turned twenty-one, and I’m out for blood. I'm out for revenge.

But I didn't expect to fall for Jase, the youngest brother in the club.

I didn't expect that he would turn my world upside down, yank my heart out of my chest and ride away into the sunset with it.

Now, I'm faced with an impossible choice - Jase, or avenging my fathers death?

“What did you take?” I ask calmly, sitting up on the side of the bed. I am alarmed. He can’t die, not now, not before he suffers for me. It would be too easy for him to just OD and die before I’ve made him regret ever meeting my father.
He doesn’t answer, just starts to pace the room, his cock still erect in front of him, his index finger nervously bouncing against the trigger of his gun.
“Dornan, you need to calm down,” I say, still in shock and not ready for him to shoot me, too. “You’ve taken something.”
“Too pure,” he says, “too pure. We gotta cut it down, cut it down–”
“Hey!” I say loudly, trying to cut through his incoherent monologue.
He swings around and presses the tip of the gun to my forehead. I gasp.
“Why did you come here?” he asks me, his breathing short and sharp. He is angry. Angry and peaking.
Stick to the story.
“I had nowhere else to go,” I say honestly, and it is true. I had nowhere else to go.

Then there were Six Brothers.......

I have lied.

I have cheated.

I have given my body and my life to the man who destroyed my family and left me for dead.

I have killed, I have sinned, and worst of all, I have enjoyed the misery of others.

I have licked the salty tears of a father mourning his firstborn son, and nothing has ever tasted so sweet.

I have died, and I have been resurrected, a phoenix from the ashes.

I know I’m going to hell. I’ll burn in the fiery pits alongside Dornan and his sons for the things I’ve done, and for the things I’m about to do.

But I don’t care. It will be worth every lick of the devil's flames on my guilty flesh to destroy Dornan Ross.

One down. Six to go.

Five Miles.....

My father taught me the importance of an eye for an eye—a cardinal rule, ingrained in every club member.

A life for a life.

Seven lives in payment for an unimaginable list of sins.

People might wonder why I’m doing this. If this vengeance is borne from some noble cause, that I’m trying to prevent others from suffering at the hands of Dornan Ross and his sons.

But I’m no vigilante.

I’m doing it for me. I’m doing it because I want to. Because the look on Maxi and Chad’s faces when I killed them was a balm to my soul.

This is the fate they have earned. The penance for their crimes.

Two down, five to go.

Time to send some of these brothers off with a bang.

Four Score, Gypsy Brothers, #4)

Four Score ....

Love and hate aren’t all that different.

Two sides of the same coin, the yin and the yang.

Once upon a time, Jason Ross loved me. And now that he's in danger of figuring out what I've done, I see the love and the hate warring within him.

I see the way he looks at me.

The way he wonders how I could do the things I’ve done.

I hear it in the way he begs me to stop, to leave his father and this life and never look back.

But there’s only one way I’m leaving LA.

And then there was Three Years.....

Every day for six years, I used to pray that I would find my way back to the boy I loved.

Until finally, one day, I did.

But that’s the funny thing about life. Nothing good ever lasts, not for me, anyway. You think you’re the one with the power, at least I did, but then I got careless. One tiny mistake, and now I am powerless to stop what comes next.

People think money equals power, but all the money in my bank account, the dirty notes laundered clean that my father left for me, are useless.

Money does not equal power. Power is held by the one with the knife in his hand, tracing shallow cuts into your skin.

Power is held by the one who owns you.

I had power once.

                                                    Now, I have nothing.

Review:

I love this series!!  I'm not one to read serials........they usually piss me off because I hate waiting for the next one!! That being said I find myself usually waiting for the whole series to be out before I will read the first one. I won Seven Sons in a giveaway when it first came out and I was hooked!!!

Juliette/Sammie was the daughter of the MC's President. The Vice President, Dornan,  was like an uncle to her, that is until he killed her father and gave her to six of his seven sons, then raped her himself then stabbed her and left her for dead. She was saved by a cop who gave up his life in CA to hide her away in a small Midwest town.

Now Juliette is back and has infiltrated the MC as Sammie. She's now Dornan's lover and is planning the ultimate revenge, killing his sons. There's just one problem, Jase; the seventh son, the one the others had to hold back as she was raped, the one who's always held her heart. Can she be in the same place as him without him realizing who she is? And can she really go through with what she needs to do?

When I first read Seven Sons I wasn't sure if I could relate to how far Juliette would go for revenge, but Lili St. Germain gives us a character who is strong and vulnerable at the same time. With each book we learn more about her past and why she is so drawn to Jace. And Jace is a good guy stuck with a shitty family. He shows his lovable side to Sammi; he wants to save her.

I can't tell you much more without ruining the series for you but this is a must read for me!!

BOOK SYNOPSIS

Guy Rogers is extremely attracted to his new realtor, Tom Beaudreaux. As a passionate vegetarian and animal activist, he’s ecstatic that Tom is a kindred soul. He could never be with a carnivore. Unfortunately, Tommy isn’t really a vegetarian or animal activist. He never said he was either, he just didn’t eat meat when he was with Guy. And maybe he emptied his house of all meat and dairy products before inviting Guy over. In fact, Tommy’s family owns the most popular barbecue restaurant in town and if his family has their way, he’ll manage the new location.
When Guy finds out that Tommy eats meat and his family owns a restaurant that is a monument to eating meat, he’s livid and doesn’t know if he wants anything else to do with Tommy.
But then Guy’s life gets crazy –his dad’s paranoia blossoms into violent dementia, he gets arrested for picketing a doggy mill, and then he winds up in even more legal trouble. When Tommy sticks by him through all his trouble and does everything he can to help him, Guy wonders if he’s been too militant and narrow-minded. Perhaps he can learn to live with people who have opposite views.

EXCERPT

Gunshots rang out as they turned onto Guy’s street.
Tommy looked at him and mouthed, “Shit! You don’t think…?”
“I hope not. I don’t know.” Guy pressed the gas pedal to the floor and the car shot forward, fish-tailing.
Tommy fisted the door, hanging on tight. “I hope we’re wrong.”
Guy’s intuition told him he wasn’t. His knuckles turned white they held the steering wheel so tightly. Unafraid for himself but scared for his dad, he pulled into his driveway and jumped out of the car, with Tommy close on his heels.
The woman next door ran outside screaming, tearing out her already tattered hair. She pointed at her front door. “Your father’s shooting up my house and is holding a gun at my dad’s head. He’s going to kill him. You’ve got to do something.”
Tommy yelled as he began dialing on his phone, “I’m calling the police.” As if on cue, police sirens blared in the distance and grew louder by the second.
“I’m going in. I have to stop him.”
“Wait for the police. Don’t put yourself in danger,” Tommy ordered forcefully.
“I have to take the chance. He could kill someone before the police get here. I can’t let that happen.” He put himself in harm’s way for animals, so certainly he could risk his life for his own father and other fellow human beings. He had no choice. It would be his fault if someone got hurt.
So he ran through the open door flailing his arms, hoping he would be in time. “Dad! It’s Guy. Don’t do anything. I’m here. You’ll be okay.”
“He’ll be okay? What about me? He’s got a shotgun pointed at my head threatening to blow it off,” the elderly neighbor cried.
REVIEW

Guy is a vegetarian, gay and an activist. He pickets businesses that kill animals for meat along with a bunch of other LGBT activists. He refuses to date any one who eats meat. He lives with his father who hates not only that he's gay but that he wont eat meat. Guy needs to get out of there..........like now.

Tommy is a real estate agent and he is instantly drawn to Guy when they meet to go over what Guy is looking of in a house. Guy is almost as stringent in his house hunting as he is in his non-existent love life. Guy has no idea why Tommy can't find him a house easily. But Tommy perseveres and takes Guy to look at some houses. Now Tommy just has to find a way to get Guy to overlook the fact that he not only eats meat but his family owns one of the largest BBQ places in the area.

The two of them get together but more than just "meat" is a problem in their relationship. Guy's father is suffering from dementia and just when Guy thinks his life is getting a little easier it all blows up.

I have to say that I really did not like Guy. He's stubborn about is vegetarianism and can't see that he is treating everyone else worse than they treat him. Tommy is a really nice guy that goes above and beyond for Guy. If I had been Tommy I would have said screw this and let Guy find a house on his own. Yes Tommy did not disclose the fact that he eats meat but can you really blame him when Guy is so unreasonable?  I didn't really feel the heat between the two MC's and wonder why Tommy is single, he seems like a catch and he's clearly noticed in the LGBT community.

I would give this book 3 stars.

Review:
Oh hot Alpha cops!!!  Like everywhere in this book!  Have you read Nothing Special??  Do you miss Day and God?  Well we get a full dose of them in this book!!  But while those two mouthwatering men don't take center stage in this book we are not disappointed. Corbin "Syn" Sydney has moved all the way from Philly to be a part of God & Day's ANTF. We meet him on his first day in the field and everything is a little confusing for him. They are busting a known drug dealer but when Syn is told to take the money and run he's astonished to find out the men he admired are on the take. WHAT?!  Of course it's all a set up to test the newest part of the team. But let me tell you all the testosterone in the Captain's office when Syn confronts Day and God; I was fanning myself.  Check out the excerpt below to see what I mean.

Syn is obviously new in Atlanta and he goes to a bar across the street from his apartment and is instantly drawn to the bartender. But wait, Syn's not gay, right? Well his job has always come first; and being gay on the police force in Philly would not have been accepted, especially when his whole family is on the force. But he did have feelings for his ex-roommate, unfortunately he didn't act on them and his roommate found someone else. Now he's in a new city with a chance to be his real self, why the hell not, it seems being gay on his new team is not only okay but a leg up.

Furious has been in hiding for a year; well hiding in plain site; working in his Uncle's bar while attending mechanic school. He is going to open his own garage but he has to make sure his husband doesn't find him. His abusive ex and his brother both used their fists on him during his marriage and Furi had enough so he left, and now he's almost free; he just has to serve the papers. Furi can't help noticing Syn when he sits at the bar but he can't take the chance that this guy is just experimenting with being gay. Furi is out and he is proud and he knows exactly what Syn needs, he just can't trust his own judgement.

I loved the fact that neither of these men just jumped into bed the first night. They both had issues to overcome before they gave into their mutual attraction. But once they got together, oh hot damn!!  A.E. Via knows how to write a great sex scene!!  They still have mountains to overcome before they can have their HEA but throughout we see the building of love and trust. We also get to be reminded of another character from Ms. Via's book You Can See Me (another great read). Definitely a 4.5 Star Read!!

Excerpt:

“I was exactly the man for this job Captain Myers, but I refuse to work for these two thieves.”
God moved into Syn’s personal space quickly, damn near putting his nose on Syn’s forehead. He snarled, "Shut up," but Syn didn’t budge. He kept talking, refusing to be intimidated.
“The bust went exactly according to their plan. You might want to check some of your detectives' bank accounts, Captain. It seems they aren’t satisfied with their pay grade and have resorted to robbing dealers.”
“Are you referring to yourself, Sydney?” God pfftd.
Syn saw red. His hand moved quickly, too fast for God to stop it as he bunched God’s jacket up in his fists. Syn didn’t anticipate God’s anger escalating as quickly as it did. A huge hand locked on to his throat, the other massive hand gripping his bulletproof vest. God propelled him backwards until Syn slammed against the wall.
“Calm down, Sydney!” God roared.
Syn tried to unsuccessfully take a breath.
“God, back off, now!” Syn could hear the Captain yelling, but his head was pounding from the impact with the wall.
Syn knew he only had a few more seconds before he would pass out. He brought his right arm all the way up and slammed it back down onto God’s forearm, dislodging the punishing grip. Syn gulped a quick breath, crouched low and slammed his right fist into God’s ribs. He saw God’s right fist coming and he had to use both arms to block the hit. Fuck, God was strong and fucking huge. God grabbed both of Syn’s shoulders and no matter how Syn twisted, he couldn’t pry himself free. He stopped trying to remove God’s fingers and instead braced both hands on God’s thick shoulders, reared his head back and slammed his forehead into the bridge of God’s nose, finally making him release his grip. God staggered back and although Syn was dazed, he moved in, determined to keep the upper hand. In a split second he registered his legs being taken out from under him. Day had moved like a panther, dropped and spin-kicked his legs, sending Syn to the floor back first, hard.
Damn that fucker is fast. Syn didn’t let the pain radiating down his back stall him. He kicked back up onto his feet and prepared to take them both on. How? He had no idea, but he damn sure was going to give it his best try.
“Enough,” Day said easily, not even out of breath.
Syn saw God over against the Captain’s desk moving his nose back and forth checking to see if it was broken. Syn didn’t dare let his guard down. “I’ll say when it’s enough and I won’t stop until I’ve gone to IA and your whole goddamn task force is under investigation. It won’t be enough until they’re probing up your asses with microscopes for dirty money,” Syn gasped the words between breaths.
“A microscope is not what I prefer up my ass Detective Sydney … or haven’t you heard?” Day retorted.
Syn couldn’t stop his startled reaction, Day’s crass remark catching him off guard. “You sonofabitch.” Syn moved toward Day again, his resolve long gone.
Captain Myers moved in and put a thick hand against the front of Syn’s chest. “Actually, I say when it’s enough. Detective Sydney, unless you want to wait down in lockup until you calm down, I suggest you get a hold of yourself. You are all highly trained professionals and you’re acting like goddamn animals.”
Syn’s chest heaved up and down with adrenaline. He’d just taken on God and Day. What the hell am I doing?
Captain Myers turned and pointed a long finger at Day. “Day, if you ever refer to anything you want in your ass around me again, I’ll have your inappropriate, cocky ass back in a uniform policing school zone traffic.”
Syn heard Day snort at the Captain and walk over to God, squinting to look at his nose. “Is it broken?” Day asked.
God shook his head no, while glaring at Syn.
Day smiled at Syn with what looked like pride. He clapped his hands together once and whooped before speaking. “Damn, the man can rumble. Never seen anyone not back down from you, God. I like him already. I say we make him third in command. I told you he’d fit right in. Man, when I’m right, I’m right. Sometimes I stun my damn self with how great a judge of character I am!” Day did some weird happy dance.
“Yeah, I’m a great judge of character too, that’s why I don’t like anyone,” God snapped.
